session types
Forum
A forum is a session consisting of moderated open discussion between NVDA users.
Keynote
The keynote is the highlight of NVDACon.
Lightning
A lightning talk is a session consisting of about 20 minutes of content and 10 minutes of questions. Lightning talks usually are grouped into multiple talks in one block of time.
Full
Full sessions are usually 45 minutes or more. They may last as long as two hours.
forum: Opening forum 1
The opening forum is a place for NVDA users to chat amongst themselves. This session simply allows users to speak with other users about NVDA in a free form style. Questions are welcome, answers are offered, and we encourage the NVDA community to have fun and kindle friendship amongst each other.

In this talk we will discuss some of the new and exciting accessibility improvements in Google Chrome, including our new automatic image descriptions on websites. We will also highlight general accessibility improvements in the browser, including to the tab-strip.

Since 2012, community add-ons by various NVDA contributors have made the difference in making NVDA what it is today. By adding new features, making apps usable, and bringing favorite speech synthesizers to the NVDA community, these add-ons allowed NVDA to go everywhere. As one of the celebrated contributors to the NVDA screen reader, Joseph Lee believes add-ons are crucial to lives of NVDA users, more so when developers and users work together on planning the next add-on adventure. Join Joseph and users of his add-ons as they discuss various add-ons, including Add-on Updater, StationPlaylist, Enhanced Touch Gestures, and Windows 10 App Essentials, along with a chance to provide feedback and suggestions. Plus, Joseph will make important announcements about his add-ons as the NVDA community prepares for the future such as upcoming NVDA 2019.3.

full: Phonetics and Syntax reading with NVDA
Demonstrates how we can read phonetic symbols by using the Char Info addon, and how to add them to the punctuation / symbols dictionary. That way, synthesizers which don't support them can speak them when they occur. Additionally, a discussion about a method to create syntax trees in Microsoft Excel in an accessible way, by merging cells to show both constituency and hierarchy of nodes in an accessible and readable way for both blind and sighted people. This year, the keynote will be delivered live, and then 8 hours later, will be played again, allowing European and Asian listeners to tune in. At the end of this, a second q&a session will take place for those who couldn't make it to the live event.

The closing forum aims to bring all users, developers and presenters one last time together to reflect all new ideas and thoughts gained throughout the conference. It is the forum where you can give feedback to NVDACon organizers and suggest improvements we should consider for next years NVDACon. And last but not least, it is a place where new leadership is welcomed to express interest in the organization and next steps are discussed.
